When designing a reverse osmosis or microfiltration system, it is often necessary to convert flow units in different parts of the process. For system integrators and design engineers who work internationally, conversion between metric units and US standard units is a daily routine while running RO membrane projections. Dosing pump settings for RO chemicals such as reverse osmosis antiscalants are dependent on the RO feed flowrate, as are calculations for RO antiscalant consumption. Additionally, concentrate flowrates are very important design considerations for RO CIP systems – a suboptimal concentrate flowrate will result in inadequate membrane cleaning results.
