Membrane ServicesMembrane Wet TestingMembrane Wet Testing is performed on each element using exactly the same testing protocol as that of performed by the membrane manufacturer prior to shipping. The test solution is prepared per the specifications of the cut sheet for the reverse osmosis or nanofiltration element that is received. The test feed pressure, pH and temperature are all also based on the test protocol outlined in the cut sheet. The maximum permeate flow that can be achieved under those conditions is recorded, and the % recovery and specific flux for the element are then calculated. A water analysis of the feed, concentrate and permeate also allows for the calculation of the membrane salt rejection. This is much more accurate and reliable than calculations based on conductivities which vary according to solution concentrations and chemistry. When membrane cleaning studies are being performed, wet testing of each element is done before and after each cleaning to document the cleaning efficacy. AWC is capable of testing both 4" and 8" brackish water membrane elements. Once completed, a final report will be provided comparing test results against the manufacturer's specifications and the manufacturer’s original wet test data. Any concerns that need to be addressed are outlined along with recommendations. |
